Tuesday 16th January – Sam Roberts – ‘Ghostsigns: The Fading Remains of Advertising Past’
Slogans and advertising campaigns of old can be found whispering from walls around the world. These painted signs are gradually fading but are far from gone. Researcher, writer and archivist Sam Roberts has been documenting them for the last 11 years, and leads two popular walking tours in London focused on these ‘ghost’ signs. In this richly illustrated talk he will share some of his work, his fascination for the signs, and what the future may hold for them.

Tuesday 17th April – A talk by Chrissie Nichols – Earth on my hands & Ink on my fingers (a talk from Inkpot & Pen)
Christine Nicholls is a visual artist living in London, working across a number of disciplines; drawing, printmaking, lettering and artists’ books.
After years of working within the business management side of the creative industry and trying to run her own creative business alongside this, in 2016 she broke away totally from the security of a regular paid income against all sensible advice and has been building up her own business since then. Although not trained in traditional calligraphy, an absolute love of hand lettering and exploring the shape of the letter form has crossed over within personal and commissioned work.
The evening’s talk and discussion will cover this journey, through highs and lows, mistakes and successes to the place where she has now reached and give some insight to where things are going next and how important nature is to her creative process.
